Our Pledges

Our pledges and requirements to strive towards a safe environment…

We will…

  • Provide a clear screened fitting cubicle which protects both dancer and fitter.

This was the most challenging part of our social distancing here in La Danse!  In order to maintain our renowned fitting service and offer the specialist pointe consultancy, we have invested in an ingenious, custom-designed fitting pod, ventilated and complete with barre and foot mirror.

Faces are fully protected, only the feet are exposed.

As always, we ask that clean ballet socks or convertible ballet tights are worn. We no longer lend garments for this purpose but you are welcome to buy our products if you do not have your own.   Please note, the fitting will not be carried out without tights or socks.

We will…

  • Run an appointment system allowing one fitting at a time.

There is a safe, off road waiting area outside the shop, the advised 2 metre distance is marked and this allows the previous customer to maintain their physical distance from you as they exit.  We ask that you use this waiting area until you are invited into the shop by your fitter. If poor weather means waiting outside is uncomfortable, we will invite you to use the waiting area created inside the shop, clearly marked and maintaining 2 metre distance from both fitting area and till area.

We will…

  • Provide a vantage space 2 metres away from the fitting area for the parent, carer or teacher accompanying the fitting.

In the past we have always welcomed multiple family members, teachers or friends to watch fittings, particularly first pointe shoes but in the current climate we must ask you to limit this to one audience member.  You are still very welcome to take pictures, videos or even live stream!

We will…

  • Allow enough time to sanitise the fitting area after every fitting.

Please call, email or message to arrange fittings. We will always make contact with you so that we can make an informed estimation of how long you will need and we will manage the time accordingly.

We will…

  • Provide hand sanitiser at entrance and exit points.

With this in mind, we ask that customers use the hand sanitiser provided. In particular we ask that customers do not wear gloves that have been worn outside our shop, it is much easier to clean hands than gloves.

We will…

  • Invite and offer the use of face masks.

Masks have been a constant source of debate throughout the pandemic. It is well documented that masks in isolation are not useful to prevent transmission and spread of the coronavirus.  We understand that social distancing, surface cleaning and hand hygiene are by far the most effective forms of virus control so with that in mind we have created a well sanitised environment that can maintain a 2 metre social distance. As an additional measure, we invite the use of facemasks, providing you are able to manage the use of your mask safely.

We will…

  • Safely manage payments.

We have transparent screens around the till area and a simple system of movement around the shop to observe 2 metre distance. Your fitter will guide you through this. We invite card payments as this is the easiest option and we use cleaning products to maintain the hygiene of the PDQ handset between every customer.  We have hand sanitising facilities so we can handle cash if you prefer this method of payment.

We will…

  • Quarantine all returns.

We have always operated a no quibble returns policy (sale items excepted) and we know how useful this is to our customers. In order to maintain this service we will operate a ‘quarantine’ for returned goods. Every return will be bagged, boxed and quarantined for 3 days.

A similar system will operate for trying on leotards if and when we re-implement this service. For now, you can choose from many leotards amongst the sale items sold on a no-returns policy.

We will…

  • Only come to work and serve you if we are free of any coronavirus symptoms.

We ask that you observe this as well.

We will…

  • Track and Trace.

In addition to whatever schemes are in place by the UK government, we will take contact details for every customer and use this to trace should the need arise.
